Summary:
This position is responsible for monitoring the activities of residents of the shelter and to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations.
This position will also assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all clients, staff, and volunteers and the security and sanitation of the Changing Lives Shelter.
WORK COMMITMENT:
Part Time (Hours fluctuates depending on shifts - 24 -32 hours a week)
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED and at least 2 years community based social service Experience or other related experience with homeless adults, the mentally ill or substance abusers Ability to interact and communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing Ability to prepare written reports Ability to perform basic and light home maintenance activities Ability to operate office equipment Ability to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds Familiarity with and respect for Christian values and tenets Shows integrity in actions, which are consistent with ethical standards of conduct RESPONSIBILTIES:
Adhere to HAC policies, procedures, code of conduct and attendance rules.
Conduct extensive intake of potential residents.
Follow urinalysis policy as necessary for drug/sobriety test.
Maintain visitor protocol and follow daily log procedures.
Follow appropriate critical incident protocol and accompanying documentation.
Maintain a comprehensive and accurate written record of events that occur during shifts, as well as thorough incident reports.
Conduct periodic inspections, when assigned by the direct supervisor, of the facility and grounds through periodic rounds to ensure the safety and security of the facility and its operations.
Enforce periodic fire drills and perform other safety duties as directed to ensure safety of residents, including implementing emergency evacuation protocol.
Answer telephone calls and take messages for appropriate staff.
Respond to in-person and telephone inquiries from the public.
Maintain resident sign-in/out log as well as all other logbooks and records.
Ensure residents' compliance with agency policy and rules.
Ensure a safe and manageable living environment for shelter residents.
Monitor residential areas through security cameras.
Be visible and interact often with shelter residents.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all residents' personal issues and information.
Assist residents, as necessary, in processing issues and problem-solving.
Monitor medication and consumption log in accordance with the medication policy of the program.
Consult with the direct supervisor or supervisor on-duty regarding residents' personal needs, behavior, and service planning.
When clients come into the shelter late at night and there are questions about accepting him/her/they into the shelter, give the client a cot to use on the PAL side until morning.
Contact the Coordinator or Executive Director about the client's entrance into the shelter in the morning, rather than calling him or her outside of their work hours late at night.
Check for contraband in the facility through general observation, as well as room and/or package/purse searches.
Maintain a professional and positive business relationship with staff, volunteers, and clients.
Supervise program activities and other programming for residents.
Attend staff meetings and trainings as directed.
Receive, account for, and secure all donations received during the shift, as well as provide donation receipts to donors upon request.
Perform basic and light home maintenance activities.
Operate office equipment and manage mail, supplies, and files.
Uphold Christian values, attitudes, and tenets always with residents, volunteers, and other staff.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Shelter Coordinator or Executive Director.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
This position has a 90-day probationary period with review.
